EveryDrink
(Created September 2010)
EveryDRINK was created to remind people to drink water and stay hydrated as they sat at their desks during a long workday. A user would decide how much he or she wanted to drink during a specific period of time, and the EveryDRINK desktop widget would display a glass slowly filling with water.
A clock counted down the period during which the person should take the next drink of water. If he or she didn’t take a drink in time, the widget would “overflow” the glass and have water spill onto the virtual desktop, along with the sound of splashing water. After taking a drink and resetting the counter, the user would hear a drinking sound as the glass drained and the countdown began again.
EveryDRINK taught us lessons about two sorts of challenges: those of cross-platform client development and those that surround enterprise deployment of client applications. This project also validated the use of Twilio as a cost-effective SMS vendor, which we then used as part of Daily Challenge.
EveryDRINK is no longer available, but you can drink up lots of new ways to stay healthy with Daily Challenge.
