Munch 5-a-Day
(Created January 2011)
This app was MeYou Health’s first acquisition and provided a fun, lightweight answer to the question, “How many fruits and vegetables did I eat today?” After eating produce, users would open the app and log whether they’d eaten a piece of fruit (by clicking on the apple) or a vegetable (by clicking on the broccoli).
The aim was to get to five each day; users who wanted to shoot for even more fruits and vegetables could set a higher goal. When users did reach their goal, they could share their achievement on Facebook or Twitter.
The app enjoyed some popularity on parenting sites and blogs, thanks to its ease of use and fun, eye-popping graphics. But we learned that even with an established property, it is difficult to market on the app store. We anticipated that Apple would feature us, but we were denied when the vendor changed after we’d acquired the app. We were then forced to give up the users who were using the app, because it had to be re-launched under the app account of MeYou Health.
